Obituary for Central-Hower High School

Akron Beacon Journal

1970-2006

Central-Hower High School left this Earth to find a better home on June 7, 2006. It was only 36 years old and passed due to major budget cuts.

It was most recently employed by Akron Public Schools and was a second home to all who knew it. It truly will be missed by all.

Preceding it in death were Central High School (formerly Akron High School) and Hower Vocational School, both of which departed in 1970.

Central-Hower leaves behind to cherish its memory alumni and current students. It also leaves its great teachers, principals, counselors, staff members, the fine custodial staff that kept the school tidy, the Fieldhouse, and the Joe Siegferth Gymnasium.

Its current students would like to give special thanks to the sports teams, including the boys and girls basketball teams; the football teams; the baseball, softball, track and volleyball teams; the step team; and our lovely cheerleaders.

Additional thanks to all those who participated in all of the other activities and clubs that have given us a great deal of pride.

Last, but not least, a very special thanks to the last graduating class -- Central-Hower High School's Class of 2006.

Homegoing services will be held June 8, 2006, at 3:22 p.m. in the parking lot.

Services entrusted to the Board of Education.
